GB: Pininfarina S.p.a. Turin is an Italian car body and design company. The current corporation was founded in 1930 as "Carrozzeria Pinin Farina" by Battista "Pinin" Farina (1893-1966). It emerged from the company Farina, which is why today the "f" part of the brand logo. The company has created many milestones of Automoil designs, as well as other products. Pininfarina designed numerous vehicles of the Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat, Jaguar, Lancia, Maserati, and Peugeot .. Sie ging aus der Firma Farina hervor, deshalb ist heute noch das “f” teil des Markenlogos. Die Firma schuf viele Meilensteine des Automoil-Designs, aber auch andere Produkte. Pininfarina entwarf zahlreiche Fahrzeuge der Marken Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, FIAT, Jaguar, Lancia, Maserati, einzelne Mercedes, Cadillac und viele Peugeot. Ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Unternehmens ist die Automobilproduktion: im Laufe der Jahrzehnte wurden sowohl der Alfa Romeo Spider, als auch der FIAT 124 Spider sowie eine Vielzahl von Kleinserienmodellen wie der Rolls Royce Camarque gefertigt. Eine besondere Beziehung pflegte Pininfarina auch zu Cadillac. Für diese Marke wurden 1958-1960 der Cadillac Eldorado Brougham auch in verlängerter Version und 1988-1993 der offene Zweisitzer Cadillac Allanté in der eigenen Produktionsanlage gefertigt.

Pininfarina verfügt über den modernsten Windkanal in Italien und arbeitet aerodynamisch weltweit mit führenden Unternehmen zusammen.
Heutzutage sieht sich Pininfarina als Design- und Ingenieurunternehmen für die gesamte Automobilindustrie. Der indische Großkonzern Mahindra wird die Mehrheit der Aktien des 85 Jahre alten italienischen Karosseriebauer Pininfarina übernehmen und im ersten Quartal des Jahres 2016  für 25,2 Millionen Euro 76 Prozent der Anteile an der traditionsreichen italienischen Design-Marke kaufen, die nach dem Tod von Sergio Pininfarina von einem Bankenkonsortium übernommen wurde. Bis jetzt stand Mahindra in Deutschland für einen preiswerten Nachbau des Jeep-Geländewagens, doch in Asien steht die Gruppe für  Maschinen- und Flugzeugbau und zahlreiche Handelsaktivitäten. Seit 2005 produzieren das Unternehmen in Indien im Joint-Venture mit Renault eine preiswerte Variante des Dacia Logan. Seit  2011 gehört zu Mahindra auch die Mehrheit der koreanischen Automarke Ssangyong. Ein Firmensprecher sicherte anlässlich der Bekanntgabe des Pininfarina-Deals zu, die Unabhängigkeit der italienischen Top-Designer solle unangetastet bleiben. Wie das funktionieren kann, hat die Zusammenarbeit des indischen Großkonzerns Tata mit Jaguar bewiesen, in der es auch darum geht, eine große Tradition zukunftsfähig zu erhalten.
